Children's Ministry Assistant - Heather Hurtt

Name:  Heather Hurtt

Birthday: 09/08/78

Education Background: Graduated Overton High School 1996 and attended Northwest Community College

Ministry Background:

I was called to IBC on:  We started attending IBC in February 1997. In September 2009 I began serving as the Nursery Coordinator at IBC and in August 2011 I began serving as the Children’s Ministry Assistant.

My Family Details: Greg and I have been married 11 years and we have 2 wonderful children Olivia, 5 and Jackson, 3.

My Role at IBC: Children’s Ministry Assistant

Personal Story: I attended a VBS when I was child and the theme verse for VBS was John 3:16.  The pastor of the church came in and talked to us and explained the verse and what it meant to have eternal life and what it meant to be separated from Jesus for eternity.  He explained what it meant to be a sinner and that Jesus came to deliver us from eternal separation from him.  I knew I was a sinner and I needed Jesus.  I gave my life to Him that day.

Favorite Book of the Bible: Proverbs.  This book is full of wisdom on being a women, a wife and a mother.

Recent Books I’ve Enjoyed: Radical by David Platt and Bringing Up Girls by Dr. James Dobson, Is God Calling Me by Jeff Lorg,  To Train Up a Child by Daniel Pearl

Most Fulfilling Aspect of my Ministry at IBC: Working and playing with kids.  I love listening to them tell me the stories they have learned about Christ in their own words.  I love watching them grow and learn about Christ at such early ages.  They are always fun to be around and there is never a dull moment.

Spiritual Gifts: Organizing and Planning

I Hope Heaven Includes: Time to sit and talk to missionaries that gave their life for the spreading of the gospel.  I think we take it for granted that we have God’s word in our language and in every Walmart.  So many gave their lives so that we could have that privilege.

The Smartest Thing I’ve Ever Done: Giving my life to Christ and surrendering all to Him!

How You Can Pray for MePray that I will be Christ focused and not self focused.  That I daily live for Him and honor him with all that I do.
