Iceland Mission Trip

Fewer than 1% of Icelanders are Christians and there is NO International Mission Board presence. A few churches in the U.S. have recently begun to partner with each other to provide an evangelical missions presence in Iceland.

The need is great and the obstacles significant. The population of Iceland is 300,000, and 85% of those are nominally affiliated with the state Lutheran church, but do not have an active relationship with the Lord. The society is very secular. The cost of living is extremely high. But none of these obstacles can deter God's love for the people of Iceland.

Immanuel is looking into the feasibility, and seeking the leading of the Spirit, to mount a missions effort to the people of Iceland. This is a very preliminary phase in which we seek confirmation and examine the interest in such a project. Such an effort may involve joining with other churches who are already working in Iceland, such as Stafford Baptist Church in Virginia. Please view the video below to see what God is already beginning to do through this church.

If you feel God is leading you to participate in such an effort, please give your name to Bro. Nathan Washburn, or Lela Wofford. At this point in time, we are merely looking to see who might have an interest and asking them to pray for God's guidance.
